Healy is the author of three books of poetry: Velvet, a collaboration with artist Van Neistat, Animal Spirits, a collaboration with tattoo artist Duke Riley, and What the Right Hand Knows, a finalist for the 2009 L.A. Times Book Prize and the Lambda Literary Award. His poems have appeared in many journals and anthologies including The New York Times, Paris Review, Yale Review, Salmagundi, Boston Review, Drunken Boat, BOMB and many others.
